Vindhyachal Thermal Power Station

Established in 1977 and run by NTPC, this power station is one of the largest in India with an installed capacity of 4260 MW. The coal for this plant is sourced from the Nigahi mines.

Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project

This project is being executed by Reliance Power Ltd and has an installed capacity of 3960 MW. This coal for this project will be sourced from Moher, Moher-Amlohri extention and Chhattrasal.

Chitrangi Power Project

This project is being executed by Reliance Power and will have a capacity of 3960 MW. This project will derive coal from the captive coal mines at Moher and water from the Gopad river.

Mahan Super Thermal Power Project

This project, being executed by Essar group is envisaged to have a capacity of 2000 MW. This project will derive coal from the Mahan coal block . This project will be located across the villages of Karsualal, Bandhora, Khairahi & Nagwa Tehsil.

Jaypee Nigrie Super Thermal Power Project

This power project, to be executed by the Jaypee Group is under construction at the moment. This project is envisaged to have an installed capacity of 1320 MW.

DB Power M.P. Ltd

Dainik Bhaskar is the organization, which is executing this power project and will have an installed capacity of 2690 MW. The project has coal linkage with Coal India Limited and will derive water from the Gopad river.

Singrauli Super Thermal Power Station

This power plant is the first power plant of the state run National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). This project established in 1977 is located at Shaktinagar in Singrauli with an installed capacity of 2000 MW. It sources coal from Jayant and Bina mines and water from the Rihand reservoir.

Coal Mining Projects in Singrauli

Northern Coal Fields

Run by the state owned Coal India Limited, it operated 13 coal mines across the district. It has some of the thickest coal seam of India of about 131 metres in the Jhingurda seam. It supplies coal to NTPC, Renupower etc to generate roughly about 13295 MW of electricity.

Moher & Moher Amlohri Extension Coal Block

This coal block originally under Northern Coalfields Ltd. Command area has now been transferred to Reliance Power Ltd under competitive bidding in 2007. The coal generated here will be used at the Sasan Power ltd and other power plants of Reliance Power Ltd.

Mahan Coal Ltd.

This coal block is an joint venture between Hindalco Industries Ltd and Essar Power M.P. Ltd. The coal reserves of this block is about 144 MT. This project will cater to the requirement of Essar Power Ltd. and Hindalco Industries Ltd for the next 15 years.

Mahan Aluminium Ltd

This plant is run by the Hindalco Industries and is located at Bargawan on NH 75E. The smelter plant has a capacity of 3.25 LTPA.The alumina requirement for the plant will be sourced from Hindalco’s captive mines at Orissa and Uttar Pradesh.

Vindhyachal pooling sub station is looking after Operation & Maintenance of existing transmission lines of Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Station viz 2 Nos 400 KV S/C Vindhyachal Korba Ckt-1 & Ckt-2 lines, 2 No D/C Vindhyachal - Jabalpur Ckt 1&2 and Ckt 3&4 lines, 2 Nos D/C Vindhyachal - Satna Ckt 1&2 and Ckt 3&4 transmission lines.
